Express delivery for championship weekend

What about a monster all-football mailbag before we tackle this week's conference championship picks? Is that something you might be interested in? As always, these are actual e-mails from actual readers.

Q: Last Sunday's games were a beautiful reminder of why sports is the best reality show of all time, why fans go shirtless in 32-degree weather, why men flock to bars to get wasted and stuff themselves full of buffalo wings, why bookies exist, and why there will be pregame shows with three panels separated in groups of fours some day. You never know. If you told me before the season that Eli -- and not Peyton -- would be playing to go to the Super Bowl, the Chargers would come back to beat Peyton at home with Billy Volek and Norv Turner, and old fogeys in nursing homes would be doing the Superman dance and lining up to buy a Nintendo Wii, I would not only bet my mortgage against those three things, I would have wagered stapling my buns together.

Doug Clark getting patted down????

Good evening, ya'll...

I admit, I can two different sides of the video of Doug Clark being patted down by police shortly before climbing into an unmarked police car with Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick, but I am uncertain which truly applies.

The first, as viewed through the eyes of a sworn member of the Spokane Police Department is WHY? Doug Clark, as far as I know, has been an upstanding citizen and area resident, has never been arrested, and has been a respected journalist for decades. Any police officer could discover that much within seconds using a city-issued laptop.

Then why would an officer pat him down as if he were a felony stop suspect?

It's about 30 minutes before kick off of the Chick Fil A Bowl where Auburn will be taking on the talented Clemson Tigers. I wanted to give my quick thoughts on why I believe Auburn will win this game. 1. While Clemson has a very strong running game, Auburn has faced the tandem of McFadden & Felix Jones when they played Arkansas earlier in the season & they virtually shut down the Hogs excellent rushing attack. I don't believe the Clemson RB's to be superior to those two so I think that will be a big factor in Auburn's favor. 2. The "mystery" spread option attack. While AU certainly has not had time to install the full package due to the limited amount of practice time allowed since they hired new OC Tony Franklin, I think this unknown element will cause some defensive problems for Clemson.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Bump J FREE!?! Jim Jones' Reality Show? Mike Jones ...

I was all hyped up to see Jim Jones in the reality show they were filming on VH1, but I don't know what's become of it. It is going around that there was tension between Jim and the producers of the show. There is no such thing as a true reality show, but there is something called “scripted reality." That's what Run and the family do. And that works for some, but Jim Jones is the real deal. I heard he just wasn't with the script and wasn't able to flip it to fit his mode of operation. All the filming is supposedly done, but the editing is very tricky with a reality-based stickler like Jim Jones the Capo.

BUMP J IS FREE!

I'll never forget bumpin' Chicagorilla, Bump J's mixtape. I was waiting for the official album.

Shuttle launch to take place Sunday

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (CNN) -- NASA managers have confirmed they will launch space shuttle Atlantis Sunday at 3:21 p.m., Kennedy Space Center spokesman Allard Beutel said.

The launch had been originally scheduled for Thursday but was postponed until Saturday after two of the four engine cut-off sensors for the spacecraft's external fuel tank failed during pre-flight testing. On Friday, Beutel said the Saturday launch would be pushed to Sunday.
